2 Corinthians 3 Bible Study
In 2 Corinthians 3:1-6, Paul said that he does not need letters of recommendation to them or from them because the Corinthians are the living proof of their ministries. Paul wrote the letter to rebuke the Corinthians so that they can correct their mistakes. The letter contains message that can edify the Corinthians so that they can turn back to God and walk on the path of righteousness. But it is the Holy Spirit that does the work in the believers so that they can grow more and more into the likeness of Christ. Everyone has the responsibility to spread the gospel and evangelize people. If you have brought someone to Christ, you should follow up on him and help him to mature in Christ. For example, you should visit him regularly and teach him to pray, and read the bible.
In 2 Corinthians 3:7-18, the law of Moses does not bring life but brings death because it brought guilt on us. The law of Moses is glorious, then how much more the new covenant is even more glorious. The law of Moses brought guilt on us because we have a natural inclination to rebel and sin against God. But the new covenant gives us life. The blood of Jesus Christ wash away our sins when we confess and repent them. Once the blood of Jesus Christ has washed away our sins, they will no longer be remembered by God so we are now pure and blameless as though we have never sin before. The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God, gives us life and freedom. The Holy Spirit is our advocator and comforter. He reminds us about God’s words and help us to walk on the path of righteousness (John 14:26).
