Job 12 Outline
– Job rebuked his friends and said he know all these things (Job 12:1-3)
– Job complained that things are happening in the opposite way they should be (Job 12:4-6)
– Job pointed out that the principle his friends used to reason is so easy that the animals can explain (Job 12:7-12)
– Job rebuked Zophar for saying he did not know God (Job 12:13-25)
Job 12 Summary
In Job 12:1-3, Job sarcastically pointed out that his friends are really those who have the wisdom. Job argued that he has understanding as well and he is not inferior to them. Job said that the principles of sin and punishment is widely known by people.
In Job 12:4-6, Job complained that he is being mocked by his friends. Job was a just and blameless man. He used to call on God and receive answer from him. Job complained that why the bad people such as robbers prosper and those who provoke God by sinning are secure. Job felt that his life previously seemed to make sense in that he receive blessings for his obedience. But now, everything is not the same.
In Job 12:7-12, Job said that the things his friends pointed out are so easy that even the animals, birds, earth, and fish will be able to explain to them. Job argued that it is God who had done this to him because God is the head of all living things and he can do whatever he want with them.
In Job 12:13-25, Job rebuked Zophar for saying he did not know God. Job said he know God has great wisdom and strength. Job describe the greatness of God from Job 12:15-23. Job described God can take away the understanding of the chiefs of the people on earth so that they grope in the dark and stagger like a drunkard.

1. God is in charge
Job knew that God is in charge of everything that happens in this universe. But he misunderstood God by thinking he is the one causing him all these troubles. God did not permit Satan to take away Job’s life. God has a good intention for allowing Satan to harm Job. God knew that his name will ultimately be glorified so he let Satan harm Job. In Proverbs 19:21, there are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand. In Romans 8:28, and we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
