1 John 1 Bible Study
In John 1:1, the Word of Life refers to Jesus Christ. John is one of the twelve disciples who have personally encountered Jesus Christ face to face. Jesus started preching when he was 30 years old and he preached for 3 years. During these three years, his disciples follow him to wherever he goes. They heard him speaking, saw his face and actually touched his hands before.
In John 1:2 – 4, Jesus is the one who gives life (John 14:6). Jesus Christ was manifested in human form. John wrote this letter to tell them about Jesus Christ. They are writing to tell them about the life they share in Jesus Christ and the Father.
In John 1:5 – 10, God is light. Anyone who loves and obey God will hate evil and always do teh right thing. If you say you are a Christian, you must always do the right thing and help people. If you don’t mind sinning and enever seriously obey God, you are lying. As Christians, we must always pay attention to our behavior and the words we say so that we will honor God in all that we do. Everyone is a sinner. Everyone needs the blood of Jesus to wash away their sins. Therefore, you cannot say that you are righteous. Even if you have not done a single mistake since birth, you are still a sinner because sin is passed down onto us. The seed of sin exists in our blood. When you truly repent and confess your sins, Jesus will always forgive you. Before confessing your sins, be sure that you don’t hold any grudge against other people. The Father God will only forgive you if you forgive others.
Light symbolizes truth and holiness. In the New Testament, Jesus called himself as the light. Light is good but darkness is evil. Darkness has to do with sin and death. The wages of sin is death. The devil is the ruler and authority of the forces in the darkness.
