1 Peter 5 Bible Study

In 1 Peter 5:1-4, Peter one of Jesus’ twelve disciples. He was with Jesus during his entire ministry on earth. Peter reminds the church leaders about their responsibilities to look after the parish. Teachers of God’s words should teach the followers according to their level of understanding. If you are teaching a group of new Christians, you must teach them the basics first so that they can understand advanced teachings later. We have the responsibility to follow up with the one that we bring to Jesus. If you have brought a person to Jesus, you must folow up with him and help him to grow so that he can become a mature Christian. You must look after him because he is your lamb and your are the shepherd. It is important that Christians learn the word of God so that they can protect themselves from the deceptions of the devil.

In 1 Peter 5:5-7, the young should always obey those that are older than them, provided that they abide to God’s principles. We should always be humble and treat people with respect. God blesses those who are humble by exalting them. If you are proud, God will surely bring you down. You should be careful when people praise you because this is the time when pride can easily comes it and makes you feel proud. We should humble ourselves and treat others with respect regardless of your status or rank within the community. Whatever problem you have, you should tell Jesus and submit to him.

In 1 Peter 5:8-11, the devil is always roaming around the earth and looking for weak Christian to attack. The devil wants to make you feel defeated and unsure of your salvation so you need to be strong in your faith. When you suffer for Jesus, your faith will become stronger. Through enduring obstacles, our faith in Jesus will grow stronger. We face all kinds of problems in our lives. To overcome the problem, we must have complete trust in God. God cares for us and he will look after our needs when we put his kingdom first. God always have a way to help us get out from our problems even though you may feel that it is hard to see it coming.
