1 Thessalonians 1 Bible Study


The Thessalonians church was the first church in the city of Thessalonica. The church of Thessalonica was started by Paul, Silas and Timothy. Paul was pleased with the Thessalonians because they follow and obey God’s words. They were role models to other followers. Because of this, Paul did not rebuke the Thessalonians when writing the letter.


In 1 Thessalonians 1:1-3, Paul, Silas and Timothy greets the Thessalonian church. Paul said that they always thanked God for the Thessalonians about their faith, work of love and firm hope in Christ. Faith in Jesus is what makes you a Christian. Through prayer, we can strengthen our faith. Having doubt in your mind is no good because it means that you are lack of faith. Whenever you doubt, you can stand on God’s promise and pray.

In 1 Thessalonians 1:4-10, God loves the Thessalonians. They belonged to God. Paul said that their message of good news was from the Holy Spirit. The Thessalonians imitate the example of Paul and Jesus Christ. The obeyed and walk in the word of God so they have become a role model for other followers. The Thessalonians are good role models of the lifestyle of Jesus. When people look at your lifestyle, they will want to Blogas well.


Although the Thessalonians suffer when following the Lord, the Holy Spirit makes their heart glad. The Thessalonians have helped to spread the gospel to other areas in Macedonia and Achaia. Thessalonica is Macedonia’s capital. It is located on the northern region of Greece. Achaia is the name of ancient Greece. In the second missionary journey, Paul had visited Athens and Corinth in Achaia. He also visited Berea and Thessalonica in Macedonia.


Before the Thessalonians came to know Jesus, they worshipped idols. After the conversion, they completely stop worshipping idol and only believe in the Lord. The Thessalonians were eagerly waiting for the second coming of Christ. Now, we are already living in the end time and the day of Armageddon is very near. There will be a one world government that is controlled by the antichrist. It is important that you be vigilant at all times so that the day will not surprise you like a thief.
