1 John 4 Bible Study

In 1 John 4:1-3, before you believe in the preaching of a pastor, you must examine it according to the Bible standards. Not all pastors preach the truth. Some pastors will deviate against the truth and preach the wrong message. Therefore, we must know how to discern between the right prophets and false prophets. Jesus is fully human and fully God (Hebrews 1:3 KJV). If you someone deny this truth, it means that he doesn’t belong to God and is a false prophet. Many false prophets and all kinds of ideology that deviates from God’s word has emerged so we must always be careful. In this way, we won’t be deceived and led astray from God.

In 1 John 4:4-11, the Holy Spirit lives is in us. The one that lives in us is bigger than the Satan forces in this world. Anyone who belongs to God will agree with what the Bible says. Anyone who disagree with the teaching of God does not belong to God. God is the source of love. He loves us and sent his son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins so that we can have part in the heavenly kingdom. God’s love is the greatest. He loves you more than your father, mother, spouse, children or friends did. He loves you unconditionally. Since God loves us, we must also lover others. There are some people that fills their hearts with hatred. When you hate people, you will think of taking revenge. You will think of wanting to fight or quarrel with them. This is because these people have never felt love in their hearts. When you feel rejected, it will be difficult for you to love others. God has already poured out his love on us, it is our decision to accept his love. If we accept God’s love, we must also love others.

In 1 John 4:12, no one sees God face to face before. If you say you love God, you must also love others so that people can see God’s love is us. If you don’t love others, how can you say you know God and love him.

In 1 John 4:13-18, every Christian is filled with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit gives us assurance that we belongs to God and are one with him. If you acknowledge Jesus as God’s son, the Holy Spirit will come to abide in you. It is important that we love others. Being a Christian is not just going to the church. It means that you have to follow Jesus and follow his commandment. God’s commandments are written in the Bible. If you live your life according to the biblical standards, you are a true follower of Christ. Loving God and loving others are the greatest commandments of all. We must love people and never be selfish. For example, if someone needs a lift back home from church, you must not be selfish. Helping others is an important part of a Christian’s life. It shows that you are really a disciple of Christ.

In 1 John 4:19-21, God loves us first so that we can love others. We must always show love to people and help them when they are needy.
