In 1 Peter 2:1-3, Christians must love each other. We must avoid being jealous and convetous. We must never have grudge or hatred towards other people. We must not curse people. Newborn Christians must keep on learning the Word of God so that they can become spiritually mature.
In 1 Peter 2:4-6, Jesus is the cornerstone of the spiritual house. The spiritual house is made up of the followers. Every follower is a living stone that contributes to the structure. As the cornerstone, Jesus serves as the foundation of this building. The spiritual house that God builds will never be destroyed but it will endure forever. To become a part of the spiriual structure, we must have faith in Jesus Christ.
In 1 Peter 2:7-8, Jesus is precious to the followers but not to those who have denied him. Anyone who deny Jesus is doom because they will be punished in hell eternally.
In 1 Peter 2:9-10, once you accepted Jesus, you have become God’s chosen one and a child of God. As Christian, we have the responsibility to preach about the good news.
In 1 Peter 2:11-12, Christians should always live their lives uprightly according to the standards in the Bible. Doing so allows you to become a living testimonies for others. If you don’t behave properly and live your life for Jesus, you give people a chance to accuse you. If you live your life for God, they may have some good things to tell God on the judgment day.
In 1 Peter 2:13-17, Christians must obey all authorities including the government, school and etc. If you are a student, you must obey your teachers and listen to what they say. We must obey our governments and pay taxes on time. We must obey the rules set by the government because God sent them to punish criminals who sinned against him. Once you have accepted Jesus, you are free from your kinds of sins and bondages. We must show respect to everyone. We must always love others and live in peace with people.
In 1 Peter 2:18-25, servants must always listen to their masters and obey them. We don’t get any reward for being punished for something wrong but we will get our reward in heaven when we suffer for something God. When we suffer for Christ and do something good for his name’s sake, we will be rewarded in heaven. Jesus is holy person. He was born as a human, and have the same temptations as we have but he never give in to sin. For the whole time he was on earth, he never sin. He never tell lies. He never tried to revenge when he was abuse. God sent Jesus to earth so that our sins can be forgiven and we can be reconciled with God. Jesus is our shepherd and protector.
