John 14 Bible Study

In John 14:1-4, Jesus told his disciples not to be troubled in their hearts because he would be leaving them soon. He wanted them to not be trouble in their hearts and believe in him. Jesus said that there are many mansions in heaven. Every follower of Christ has a mansion in heaven. The mansion is built based on what works you did for God and how much time you spent in devotion to God while on earth. Jesus said he is going to heaven to prepare a place for his disciples. He said he will come back and bring them to heaven. Jesus is coming back for the second time to the earth to rapture his faithful followers and bring them to heaven. Therefore, we must identify every aspect of our lives and get rid of everything that is not in accordance with God’s will (1 Thessalonians 4:14-17). Jesus said to his disciples that they know the way to the place where he is going, which is heaven. To enter into the kingdom of God, you must abide in God’s commandments in the Old Testament and New Testament in the Bible. Some Christians say that there is no need to obey the Old Testament law but this is wrong (Matthew 23:3; Matthew 19:16-30).

In John 14:5- 14, the disciples asked Jesus where he is going and how will they know the way. Jesus replied he is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6). Jesus said that if his disciples know him, they will know his father as well. Therefore, they have already know the Father and have seen him. Then, Philip asked Jesus to show him the Father. Then, Jesus questioned Philip didn’t he know him since he has been with them for a long time. Jesus said that anyone who has seen him has seen the father so they cannot ask him to show them the Father. Jesus said that the Father is in me and he is in the Father. He said that the works he did are the works of the Father. Anyone who believe in Jesus will be able to do the same works that he is doing. Jesus say whatever his follower ask for in his name, he will do it. Jesus is the only way to heaven. Only by believing and abiding in Jesus, a person can enter into the kingdom of God. Anyone who confess that Jesus is lord and believe that he is risen from the dead on the third day can receive the gift of salvation. Jesus is the truth. Whatever he says is the truth. Jesus never tell lies. He always keep the promises he made to us (Numbers 23:19). Jesus is the life. He is the giver of life. If you have any problem, you should come to him. He is our creator and he knows how to solve every problem. Jesus said we should see his kingdom first and all things will be added unto us (Matthew 6:33). When you ask God for something in prayer, you must believe in him and not doubt. You must not ask for something, with the purpose of gratifying your fleshly desire, but in accordance with his will to glorify God (James 4:3).

In John 14:15-31, Jesus told his disciples that he is going to ask the Father to send the advocate, the Spirit of truth. The Spirit of truth is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit helps us in all kinds of problems (John 14:26; Romans 8:26; John 15:26). He gives us strength to overcome all kinds of weaknesses. The Holy Spirit is consistent with the word of God in the Bible (1 Corinthians 2:13). Anyone who love Jesus and do his commandment will be loved by the Father God. In James 2:10, anyone who did not keep one commandment is equal to disobeying the whole commandment of God. Jesus is coming back for the second time again. When Jesus comes back for the second time, his faithful followers will be raptured into heaven. The prince of the world is Satan. If you follow the way of the world and compromise with it, you belong to Satan. If you follow Jesus and abide in his word, you are the children of God.
