Luke 12 Bible Study
In Luke 12:1-3, Jesus told his disciples to watch out for the hypocrisy of the Pharisees. The Pharisees are hypocrites in that they teach others to do what is right but they don’t do it. You must do what you preach so that you will be a role model to others. God knows everything. Nothing can be hidden from God. Everything that is concealed will be revealed on the judgment day.
In Luke 12:4-5, Jesus said we should not be afraid of those who can kill our bodies but rather we should be afraid of God, who determine the destination of our souls. The soul will never die and it will last forever. If you are faithful to God while on earth, you will go to heaven. If you sin and break even one commandment, you will end up in hell (James 2:10).
In Luke 12:6-7, God is our father and we are his children. We are precious to God. God loves us but we must seek God’s kingdom first before other things will be added unto us. If you put God first and obey his commandments, he will give you what you pray for in your prayer.
In Luke 12:8-10, anyone who deny Jesus before other people will not be acknowledged by Jesus in front of God. We must not deny our faith in Christ no matter how the enemy persecute us. Any sin against the Father God and Jesus can be forgiven but anyone who blaspheme against the Holy Spirit cannot be forgiven because it is an eternal sin.
In Luke 12:11-12, the Holy Spirit will give you wisdom so that you know what to speak when you are brought on trial before the authorities.
In Luke 12:13-21, a person sought Jesus’ help to divide the inheritance with him. In turn, Jesus warned the man to be careful of greed. Then, he told the people about the parable of the rich fool. In the parable of the rich fool, the rich man wanted to build a bigger barn to store his crops and then he want to enjoy life for many years. However, Jesus rebuked the rich man because he will die that night and not be able to take away what he had stored up for himself. In John 14:2, God said that there are many mansions in heaven. Each of the children of God has a mansion in heaven. The mansion is built based on what work of God you have done while on earth. To be rich in the kingdom of heaven, you must serve God and obey his commandments. We must not put money first in our lives but put God first in our lives.
In Luke 12:22-34, Jesus tells us not to worry about life necessities because all these will be added unto you if you put God first in your life. We must put God first in our lives over other things such as money, family and etc. We must not be selfish with our money but use them for the kingdom of God.
In Luke 12:35-48, Jesus asks his disciples to keep watch. Jesus will come back for the second time to the earth soon. When Jesus comes back again, there will be a rapture and everyone who is have been faithfully obeying God’s commandments will be caught up into heaven. Jesus said that he will come at a time that no one is expecting. Therefore, we must always get ourselves ready by eliminating all our bad habits and follow God wholeheartedly.
In Luke 12:49-53, Jesus said that he did not come to bring peace but division. What Jesus means is that you must put God first in your life over your family members. If your family are non believers and they threaten you for believing in Jesus, you must not listen to them but follow Jesus no matter what.
In Luke 12:54-56, when the end time is near, there will be a lot of natural disasters. Natural disasters will occur one after another.
In Luke 12:57-59, Jesus is saying that we must forgive others before asking God to forgive our sins. If you have offended someone, you must ask him to forgive you before asking God for forgiveness.
