Revelation 19 Bible Study

In Revelation 19:1-10, John heard a multitude in heaven shouting praises to God for bringing punishment on he Antichrist and his followers to avenge for the blood of the martyrs. The multitude in heaven is the same as the one described in Revelation 7:9-14. They shout Alleluia when giving praises to God. Alleluia means praise Yahweh. God’s people celebrate the downfall of the Antichrist and his followers but the people of the world mourn its fall (Revelation 18:9; Revelation 18:15-19). At the victory of the Messiah against the Antichrist, the people will be united with Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, like the marriage of man and woman. There will be a wedding supper in which the faithful followers of Jesus Christ will attend. The saints are given fine linen to wear. Fine linen represents righteousness because Jesus’ blood has wash away all our sins. John fell down to worship the angel but the angel warn him not to do it. The angel said that he is a fellow servant of God like him and that he should only worship God. It is a sin to bow down or worship any creation in heaven, on earth or in the sea (Exodus 20:4-6). A prophet with the true spirit of prophecy will bear testimony for Jesus Christ.

In Revelation 19:11-21, John saw heaven open and a rider called Faithful and True appear. The rider is Jesus Christ, who is faithful in keeping his promises. His eyes look like blazing fire which symbolizes that there is nothing we can hide from him. He wear many crowns, which symbolizes that he is the king of kings. He wear a robe that is dipped in blood, which symbolizes he is the Lamb of God that is slain. He lead the armies from heaven, who ride on white horses and dressed in fine linen to fight against the Antichrist and his followers. The armies from heaven is God’s people, who have been redeemed from their sins. The sharp sword that comes forth his mouth is the word of God, which means he fight the enemies with the word of God. The name ‘KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS’ is written on his clothes and thigh. John saw an angel standing in the sun crying out invitation to the birds to eat the flesh of kings, captains, mighty men, and horses all men, both free and bond, both small and great who are on the side of the Antichrist. Ultimately, the Antichrist beast and his armies lost the battle to God. The Antichrist beast and the false prophet who promote the Antichrist beast will be thrown alive into the lake of sulfur. The rest will be killed by the sword that came forth from Jesus Christ’s mouth and birds will feed on their flesh.
