Exodus 31 Summary

God informed Moses that he had chosen Bezaleel, son of Uri, son of Hur, from the Judah tribe, who was filled with the Holy Spirit to make the gold, silver and bronze articles, cut and set stones, work in wood and other types of craftsmanship. He appointed Aholiab, son of Ahisamach from the Dan tribe to be his assistant.

The Israelites are to observe the Sabbath because God rested on the seventh day and consecrate it. The Israelites are to work for 6 days but rest on the seventh day. God gave Moses two tables of the Testimony after he finished speaking to him on Mount Sinai.

1. Fearing God is the beginning of wisdom

Bezaleel was filled with the Holy Spirit because he feared God and walk in his commandments. In Psalm 111:10, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. A good understanding have all they that do his commandments. If you fear God, God will give you wisdom. Every wisdom that allow human being to do and invent things come from God. God is the creator and source of all things (1 Corinthians 8:6)

2. Observe the Sabbath

God commanded the Israelites to observe the Sabbath by not working. Christians must observe the Sabbath by not working on the seventh day. The Sabbath day is Saturday or Sunday as determined by your pastors. You should also avoid shopping, entertainment and etc on the Sabbath (Nehemiah 10:31; Deuteronomy 5:14; Jeremiah 17:27; Luke 18:20; Matthew 12:1-14). Instead, you must dedicate the Sabbath day to God.
