Jonah 2 Bible Study
1. God can change your mind if you decide to not obey his calling    Â
There are many ways God can turn a sinner to repentance. God did not end Jonah’s life by letting him drown in the ocean. Instead, he made a big fish swallow him so that he has time to ponder on what he did wrong. Many people think that the big fish is a whale but the bible did not mention what type of fish it is. It just states that it is a very large fish. Jonah felt unpleasant while he was in the stomach of the fish. He was desperate for God’s deliverance from his circumstances. Jesus Christ used Jonah’s circumstance to describe what will happen after his crucifixion (Matthew 12:40). As Jonah prayed, he understood that God punished him because he did not obey his calling.
2. God will listen to your prayer as long as you have a sincere heart of repentance
God listened to Jonah’s prayer because he sincerely confessed his sins and asked God to forgive him. The bible verses John 9:31 and Isa 59:1 say that sins caused God to be far away from you and cannot listen to your prayer. For this reason, many people feel God will never listen to their prayers. However, this is not true because Romans 3:10 and Romans 3:23 claimed that all man are sinners and fall short of God’s glory. If you feel that it is hard to stop sinning, you should confess your faults to God and sincerely asked him to help you overcome it. You must never lie and say you did not sin. Everyone sins at some points of their lives. When God sees that you sincerely confess your sins and pray to him for help, he will surely open a way to you.
