In Psalm 142:1-2, David cried aloud to God for mercy. He came before God with his trouble.
In Psalm 142:3-4, David knew that it is God who helped him to know his way. His enemies had set up snares for him. No one seems to care for him. There is no one he can run to for help except God.
In Psalm 142:5-7, David prayed for God to come and rescue him and set him free from all his problems so that he can praise his name. In this way, the righteous who see this testimony in David will praise God’s name.
Psalm 142 Bible Study
1. Look to God in times of troubles
David knew that only God really cares about him and he always sought him for help in times of troubles. Whenever you face troubles, you should tell God about it. You should surrender your problems to God and let him help you. In Psalm 118:8, It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. In Psalm 40:4, blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. In Psalm 108:12, give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.
