– May God take vengeance on the enemies (Psalm 149:6-9)

Psalm 149 Summary

In Psalm 149:1, sing a new song to God and praise him in the assembly of the faithful.

In Psalm 149:2-5, let the Israelites rejoice in God, the creator and praise him with dancing, tambourine, and harp. God delights in those who fear him and humble themselves down to acknowledge him. Therefore, those who humble themselves to God will inherit eternal life in heaven.

In Psalm 149:6-9, may God take vengeance on the enemies of the Israelites and capture them so that the Israelites can offer praises to God. The two edged swords in their hands refer to God’s words. One edge of the sword is God’s laws and the other edge of the sword is the gospel. God’s laws cut into the hearts of men, working in their conscience and convict them of their sins. The other edge of the sword is the gospel, which cut down self centeredness in a human being, teaching them to deny themselves and ungodliness.

1. Meditate on God’s words every day

Christians should read the bible and meditate on God’s words every day. God’s word is the double edged sword. If you read the bible, you will know and understand how God wants you to live your life. In Hebrews 4-12, for the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. In Ephesians 5:26, that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, In Ephesians 6:17, and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
