Bible Study Outline on Angels

Angels are heavenly beings created by God to serve him. Angels serve as ministers to human beings. They were present before the creation of the earth. In Job 38:4-7, where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Angels are immortals, just like the souls of the redeemed. In Luke 20:36, neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

Angels cannot marry, like human beings. In Matthew 22:30, for in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

Angels can discern between right and wrong, just like human beings. In 2 Samuel 14:17, then thine handmaid said, The word of my lord the king shall now be comfortable: for as an angel of God, so is my lord the king to discern good and bad: therefore the LORD thy God will be with thee.

Angels are spiritual beings. In Psalm 104:4, who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire: They do the will of God.

Angels should not be worshiped or prayed to. In Revelation 19:10, and I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

There are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels angels in heaven. In Psalm 68:17, the chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels: the Lord is among them, as in Sinai, in the holy place.

Angels are ministering spirits to the believers. When you pray for God to send angels, God send the angels to protect and help you. In Hebrews 1:14, are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

Angels will join all the believers who are redeemed in heaven. In Hebrews 12:22-23, But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect.

Angels worship Jesus Christ and obey him. In Hebrews 1:6, and again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.

Angels always report to God about us. In Job 1:6, now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. In Job 2:1, again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.

Angels will rejoice in heaven when a sinner repent. In Luke 15:8-10, either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it? And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost. Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

It was angels who announced the birth of Jesus Christ to men. In Luke 2:10-14, and the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. for unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
