Bible Study Outline on Emotional Healing

God wants to heal your sorrow and pain. It is just like you love someone so much that you wish you could bear their sufferings for them. This is exactly what Jesus Christ did for us on the cross. Jesus loves the people of the world so much that he abandon his abode in heaven and came down to earth to die on the cross so as to make atonement for our sins.

Jesus Christ bore all our sorrows, pain and diseases on the cross. If you want to take advantage of what Jesus Christ had done for you, you must learn to surrender your worries to him. Jesus Christ said all who are weary and burdened should come to him and he will help them take their yoke.

God does not give us a timid spirit but he give us power, love and self discipline. If you want the Holy Spirit to take away your emotional pain, you should stop having fear. You must open up yourself completely and let God heal your wounds. You must release your painful emotions so that God can perform a complete inner healing. It is all right to cry as you release your pain and give them into God’s hands. You can confide your sorrow with a friend at the church and be prayed for.

In John 15:13, Jesus said the greatest love is to lay down one’s life for his friend. Jesus laid down his life for us. That shows how precious we are to him. It was God who loved us first so that we can have redemption of our sins. It is important to know the love God has for us otherwise we would not realize his fullness.

The devil can use all kinds of ways to incur hurt in a person. The devil came to steal, kill and destroy. Jesus came to destroy the devil’s works and restore fullness to his children. Jesus desires to heal your broken heart and set you free from your depressions.

One factor that contribute to emotional hurt is unforgiveness. You must forgive those who have hurt you in order to allow the healing of the Holy Spirit to follow through to you. Unforgiveness can increase the distance of our relationship with God. God said he will not forgive you if you don’t forgive others. Therefore, you should forgive others before asking for God’s forgiveness and making your prayer requests.

The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all. He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken. (Psalm 34:17-20 KJV)

He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. (PSalm 147:3 KJV)

At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight. All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:25-30 KJV)

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7 KJV)

And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; (ISaiah 11:2 KJV)
