Bible Study Outline on Halloween

Halloween is the time when people disguise themselves in various kinds of costunes. The wearing of monstrous costumes are to scare away the spirits of the dead ancestors and relatives otherwise they will haunt you. Therefore, on Halloween day, people would make ritualistic food offerings outside of their houses. Some of the Halloween activities include attend costume parties, carve pumpkins, trick or treating and etc. Halloween has pagan roots. It was originally celebrated in western Europe as the festival of the dead.

Although Halloween is Christianized, it is wrong to celebrate it. Celebrating halloween means you are participating in witchcraft. Halloween is actually celebrated by the witches and sorcerers. Many Christians think it is okay to celebrate it as long as they pass along the gospel when they go visiting friends during trick and treating. However, we must not compromise in the devil’s activities in order to spread the gospel.

The wearing of monstrous and witches clothes and making ritualistic food offerings will open doors for the devils to come into your life. Halloween celebration is a kind of Satanic worship. Satan like to use Halloween and other types of similar festivals to trick Christians into sinning so that they can be led astray from God. We cannot be both worldly and godly at the same time. You can either choose to dedicate your life to God or to pursue worldliness.

Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them. For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. (Ephesians 5:6-12 KJV)

Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils. (1 Corinthians 10:21 KJV)

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: (1 Peter 5:8 KJV)

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6 KJV)

When thou art come into the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch. Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee. (Deuteronomy 18:9-12 KJV)

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7 KJV)
