Bible Study Outline on Intimacy with God
If you want to have an intimate relationship with God, you must learn to be obedient by doing what His words say in the bible. An obedient Christian will always think of putting Jesus Christ and his commandments first in his life. Often, we will think for ourselves first before God. To love GOd with all your heart, soul and mind is to love others as much as yourself. This mean helping those who are in need.
Intimacy with God goes beyond a romantic relationship. Spending lots of time with God can increase your relationship with Him. You must always set apart time for devotion such as praying, studying the bible, and etc. Whatever you do must to glorify God and not based on your selfish interest. You must always take others into consideration before doing anything, not just purely for gospel purpose. God calls us to live in harmony with one another. If you do this, you will please God.
YOu should share with Jesus everything that happens in your life. When you are close with someone, you will want to share everything with that person. Jesus knows everything but he won’t help you if you don’t discuss your problem with him. You must tell Jesus about your problem and ask him to help you before he will step in to help you.
Jesus Christ loves you so much that he laid down his life for you on the cross. Now, you must do the same by loving God and others. You must always have time for God and help him to further the kingdom by spreading the gospel. You must not just ask God to help you but also help him back. You can help God back through various methods of contribution such as money, time, strength and etc. As you submit to God in obedience to His words, you will find yourself slowly change to become more and more like Jesus.
Jesus is intimate with the Father because he do what his will. His relationship with the Father is shown in his character, his obedience in doing the Father’s will. Jesus came down to earth to be crucified for our sins, according to the Father’s will even though the Roman soldiers tortured him unbearably. God loves us first so we must now love him and others. We can only remain in Jesus and the Father and the Holy Spirit by doing God’s commandments in the bible. When you do God’s will and walk in his commandments, you will enjoy peace and joy by the Holy Spirit in your heart.
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. (James 4:8 KJV)
The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger. (Job 17:9 KJV)
But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works. (Psalm 73:28 KJV)

A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. (James 1:8 KJV)
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. (James 3:17 KJV)

And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. (1 John 3:3 KJV)
This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. (1 John 1:5-10 KJV)
Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. (Hebrews 10:22 KJV)
Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. (Hebrews 7:25 KJV)
And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. (John 17:3 KJV)
