Bible Study Outline on Justification By Faith Alone

romans-5-1

Justification by faith alone means that anyone who believe in Jesus Christ is regarded as righteous just as Abraham had faith in God and he was regarded as righteous. We receive the gift of eternal life not because what we do to please God but it is purely the grace of God. We have this gift because Jesus Christ was willing to come down to the earth to die for our sins on the cross. If Jesus did not die for our sins on the cross, we still cannot go to heaven no matter what we do to please God.

However, this does not mean that you will be regarded as righteous and holy after baptism, no matter what sin you commit. You will not automatically be forgiven after conversion and baptism. You have to repent and confess your sins in prayer to God before God will forgive you. We cannot continue to live a sinful lifestyle but must change our bad habits to live a new life for God. You must imitate after the likeness of Jesus Christ in your lifestyle, like how Jesus Christ lived his life while on earth. You must obey and abide in the commandments of God in the bible. It is important to read and study the bible as this will help you to understand God’s words properly. When you have little knowledge of the bible, there is a high tendency that you will be deceived and led astray by other people’s false preaching.

James 2:14-25 points out that faith is useless if it does not have work. If you have faith God, you must show it in your lifestyle. Faith and actions goes together. If you don’t have action, it shows that you don’t believe in God enough. If you have full assurance of your salvation, you will demonstrate it in your lifestyle by choosing to obey God’s commandments rather than following after the lust of your flesh. Those who fully surrender their lives to Jesus Christ will choose to walk by the Spirit. Life by the Spirit is a discipline life. You must discipline yourself before you can develop the 9 fruit of the Spirit. Without discipline and self control, you will find your life in a mess. Discipline and self control keeps your life away from all kinds of troubles such as debt, sicknesses, unhygienic, violence, and etc.

In conclusion, you must have faith in God and serve him faithfully by abiding his commandments if you want to enter into the kingdom of God. Whatever you do must comes from faith and a right motive. The biggest commandment in the bible is to love God with all your heart, soul and mind and love others as much as yourself so whatever you must come from your love for God and others.

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1 KJV)

Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. (Galatians 2:16 KJV)

You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. (James 2:24 KJV)

But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. (Romans 4:5 KJV)

For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law. (Romans 3:28 KJV)

And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: (Mark 2:27 KJV)

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. (Exodus 20:8-11 KJV)
