The first time Jesus mention living water was when he met a Samaritan woman who came to draw some water from the well. Jesus asked the Samaritan woman for a drink but the Samaritan woman question how could he asked for a drink when he is a Jew. In those days, the Jews never associate with the Samaritans. The Samaritans are from Samaria and they are mostly pagans.
Jesus replied to the Samaritan woman if she knew what is the gift of God and who she was speaking to, she would ask for the living water. Jesus stated that she will never be thirsty again if she drink the living water. The Samaritan woman then ask Jesus to give her the living water but Jesus asked her to call her husband. The Samaritan woman lied she had no husband but Jesus revealed her secret by saying she had 5 husbands and the one she is with now is not her husband.
Water is very important to the trees, human beings and animals. Without water, we all living things will die. Just as water is a necessity of life. having Jesus in your life is also a necessity for everyone. Without Jesus in your life, your soul will die. We always try to quench the thirst of our soul with different things such as materialism but we soon get thirsty. The only thing that can quench the thirst of your soul is believing in Jesus Christ and follow him. Believing in Jesus is the only way for you to live eternally with God. You can quench your spiritual thirst by taking up your cross to follow Jesus every day. Christians are to share the living water, which is the gospel of Jesus Christ, with others so that they will also found life.
Jesus always refers to the Holy Spirit as the living water. The Holy Spirit abides in us and guide us to do God’s will. The indwelling of the Holy Spirit seals us for salvation. Those who are led by the Holy Spirit will live a life that brings life into the world. Jesus is the vine and we are the branches. We must abide in Christ in order to be fruitful. We are to spend time with Him every day. God is the source of all problems. God is always ready to help us if only we are willing to humble ourselves and bring our problems to him in prayer.
The world can never give you that living water that will make you forever satisfied. When you feel empty in your soul, you should look to Jesus. He can quench the thirst of your soul and give you life if you allow him to enter into your life.
