Usually, people who look down and don’t have enough confidence in themselves will have low self image. When you have low self image, you will be lack of confidence to meet people and feel rejection. A person with low self image may be shy, quiet, stuttering, cannot look at people in the eyes, and say negative things. In Proverbs 29:25, the fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.
When God first created human being, he didn’t cloth him. The first human being that God created, Adam, was naked, and he did not feel shy at all. But after Adam sinned by eating the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, he felt shy when seeing his own nakedness. Therefore, shyness and low self esteem are sin. God was pleased with all his creations when he created them. We should be proud of ourselves because we are God’s creation. God created each of us to be unique and beautiful in its own way.
In Genesis 1:27, so God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. In Romans 12:1-2, Â I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
We should avoid comparing ourselves with other people. You should also avoid comparing a person with other people. When you make judgment on a person by comparing it with others, the person will surely be affected by what you say. The person who is judged by you because you compare him with others will feel that he is not better than the people you compare him with and look down on himself. It is no good to make comparison on people because it is not words that edify others. Instead, you should speak words that edify and encourage others so that they can make progress.
We should always be thankful to God about what we have. When you are thankful to God about all you have, you will be less judgmental and stop comparing yourself with others. We must be contented with all that we have. Every person on the earth has their strong and weak points. In 2 Corinthians 12:7-10, Paul was given a thorn in his flesh. Paul pleaded with God to take away the thorn but God said his grace is sufficient for him. Therefore, we are not all perfect. We all have weaknesses but we must learn to strong in God regardless of these weaknesses.
God created us ever since when we are in our mothers’ wombs. In Psalm 139:13, for thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. God created everyone of us to be beautiful in our own ways. There is no need to feel low self esteem about your appearance. You don’t have to use makeup, wear jewelry, dye your hair and etc, to improve your appearance.
In 1 Peter 3:3-4, whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel. But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. In Psalm 139:14, I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
If you need help in overcoming your low self image, you can pray to the Holy Spirit and ask him to help you. The Holy Spirit is our comforter and he will see us through our problems. In John 14:16-17, and I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
