Bible Study Outline on Your Body is a Temple of God


When you become a Christian, you surrender all aspects of yourself completely to God. The Holy Spirit dwells in your body after conversion. Therefore, your body is now a temple of God.

Now you no longer want to live in your bad habits. Examples of bad habits include smoking, grumbling, quick to anger, depression, taking drugs, and etc. Now, you want to live your life for God. To live your life for God means to live a holy lifestyle. To be holy for God, you must walk in God’s commandments in the bible.

Every day, you must spend time with God so that your relationship with him grows closer and closer. If you don’t spend time with God, you will not be able to have a close relationship with him. It is just the same with spending time with a good friend. If you don’t spend much time with a person, you will not know him much and not have close relationship with him. Usually, the people whom we have close relationship with are those we spend most of our time with. Therefore, if you want to be close to God, you must always meditate on God’s words, spend time in prayer, and sing praises.

Faith is not dead as it must be accompanied by action. If you have faith in God, you must go to preach to others about the good news, lead people to Christ, evangelize others and do your best to help those in need.

Since your body is the temple of God, you also have to take good care of your body by avoiding junk food. Junk food are no good as they deposit chemicals that turn into fat in your body. God gives you a body so you must take good care of it. If you take good care of your body by eating healthily and exercise regularly, you will enjoy good health and long life.

We must never grieve the Holy Spirit by purposely doing something that is against God’s commandment. The Spirit of God is gentle and he can easily become grieved when you upset him by doing something that is against God’s commandments.

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 KJV)

Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord. (Leviticus 19:28 KJV)

Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body. (1 Corinthians 6:13 KJV)

But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; (Ephesians 5:3 KJV)

Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. (1 Corinthians 6:9-11 KJV)
