What are False Prophets?

False prophets claim to be called by God to do a ministry. However, these prophets do not preach the truth according to the bible. Their doctrine may contained a combination of the bible teachings and their own own views. For example, they may try to replace some of God’s commandments with their own commandments. They will try to make themselves bigger than Jesus Christ so that they will be glorified.

False prophet will not believe in the trinity. They may reject Jesus Christ as god. 1 John 4:3 states that every spirit that does not acknolwedge Jesus is antichrist. There are already many antichrist prophets in the world. The antichrist will form a one world government after the rapture has occured in the second coming of Jesus Christ. For example, Mormon and Jehovah Witnesses do not believe in Jesus Christ.

Some false prophets can also perform miracles. There are a number of false prophets who act as if they are genuine pastors, by laying hands on people and making them fall as if they have the gift of filling people with the Holy Spirit. However, you must be cautious that anyone can do that with the help of the evil spirits too. A false prophets may try to do miracles to make people believe in them. You should not just simply put your faith in a pastor just because he or she can perform miracles.

False prophets will make prophesies that fail to come true. For example, they will try to prophesy the exact date of the second coming of Jesus Christ. The bible has said that no one will know the time of the second coming of Jesus Christ, not even Jesus Christ himself, except the Father God.

You can recognize a false prophet by their fruits. A false prophet do not abide in God’s commandments. They may try to show that their righteousness in the public that they are true followers of Christ but they will secretly carry out a lot of sins in the darkness.

A false prophet can also have many followers. A pastor that has many followers and supporters does not mean that he is called by God. You must assess the teachings of the pastor to see if he truly teaches according to the truth in the bible. False prophets often compromise God’s words with the world such as tradition, materialism, secular music, meditation and etc.

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. (1 John 4:1-6 KJV)

8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.

9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition. (Mark 7:6-9 KJV)
