What are the Characteristics of God in the Bible?
God is self existent. He existed before the world was created. There is only one God and he exists in 3 persons. The Father God is the father of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the son of God and he acts as our mediator. He intercedes to God about our problems on behalf of us day and night in heaven. The Holy Spirit is a comforter and helper. He helps us in many ways such as providing guidance, giving you power to do what God want you to do and etc.
For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself. (John 5:26 KJV)
God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands. (Acts 17:24 KJV)
Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus. (Acts 1:16 KJV)
God is all powerful. There is nothing too difficult for God. With God, everything is possible. You must not doubt when you pray to God and ask him to do a favor. Only those who have faith in him will please him. You must also believe that God exists before he will reward you with what you ask for in prayer.
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. (Matthew 19:26 KJV)
For with God nothing shall be impossible. (Luke 1:37 KJV)
Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me? (Jeremiah 32:27 KJV)
God is all knowing. God knows everything. We cannot hide anything from God. God knows everything you do including those you do in public and in secret. He knows what will happen in your future including your next action and etc. He is the creator and all knowledge comes from him. He create everything in the universe. He used people to invent different things so that we have modern technology as of today to make it convenient for us to live on earth. We should not rely on our wisdom but always rely in God in all things. You must boast about your knowledge of God by spreading the gospel to everyone you meet. If you need guidance, you should ask God. If you pray patiently and persistently, God will help you.
Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite. (Psalm 147:5 KJV)
For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. (1 John 3:20 KJV)
Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. (Isaiah 40:28 KJV)
Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the Lord. (Jeremiah 23:24 KJV)
God is everywhere. God can exists in multiple places. No matter where you pray, God can hear your prayer.
The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. (Proverbs 15:3 KJV)
O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether. Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it. Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee. (Psalm 139:1-12 KJV)
And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. (Colossians 1:17 KJV)
For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings. (Job 34:21 KJV)
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. (Matthew 18:20 KJV)
God is holy. God is pure in all his conducts and judgment. God’s judgment is always right and fair. Jesus Christ will judge everyone on the judgment day. Each of us will be rewarded based on our actions and motives. Those who faithfully serve God and abide in his commandment will be rewarded in heaven. On the contrary, those who fail to obey God’s commandments will be punished in heaven.
Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the Lord your God am holy. (Leviticus 19:2 KJV)
Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. (1 Peter 1:16 KJV)
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23 KJV)
For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. (Isaiah 57:15 KJV)
There is none holy as the Lord: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God. (1 Samuel 2:2 KJV)
Who is like unto thee, O Lord, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? (Exodus 15:11 KJV)
And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. (Revelation 4:8 KJV)
And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. (Isaiah 6:3 KJV)
God is never changing. He does not change and he is always the same yesterday, today and forever. God can be trusted with what he said. He always keep his promises even though it may take a long time to fulfill them.
But as God is true, our word toward you was not yea and nay. 19For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea. 20For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. (2 Corinthians 1:18-20 KJV)
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? (Numbers 23:19 KJV)
God is beyond human understanding. There is no way to understand God fully. No one can understand his works completely. No one can say he knows God completely. God only make known to us something but he also keep certain knowledge to himself according to his will.
Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out. (Job 36:26 KJV)
Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection? It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know? The measure thereof is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea. (Job 11:7-9 KJV)
Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict. Men do therefore fear him: he respecteth not any that are wise of heart. (Job 37:23-24 KJV)
