Why Jesus Asked Peter Three Times “Do You Love Me”?

Jesus Asked Peter “Do You Love Me” 3 times when he was having breakfast with them at the sea shore. Jesus kept on repeating the question because he is emphasizing that obedience to him is important in his future ministry. Jesus had chosen Peter to pastor to the followers. He was chosen as the leader of the church in Jerusalem. It was from Jerusalem, that the gospel started to spread to other places in the world. The sheep are those who belong to Jesus Christ and follow his commandments.

Jesus probably asked Peter the same questions three times because he had backslided and dis-acknowledged him before. Peter denied Christ three times when people accuse him of being a follower of Jesus Christ. To protect himself from getting arrested, he denied knowing Jesus Christ. Jesus is simply reminding him as he search through his heart to make sure he is completely devoted to him. God often search our hearts to see if we truly give all our hearts to him.

God may let certain events to take place in our lives to test our faith and obedience to him. We should not grumble or deny Christ when faced with a difficult situation. Whenever you have problems, you should pray and continue to trust in him and abide in his commandments. Perseverance can build up your character in Christ so that you become a more mature Christian. If you deny Christ, Christ will deny you before the Father God. You should not be shy about your faith in Christ but share it with everyone you know. In this way, you will be able to win souls for Christ. Every Christian has a responsibility in sharing his faith with the people they know.

No one can become a servant of Christ unless he is called. If you are called to be a minister of God’s church, you must be responsible in looking after the needs of your sheep. The parish in your church are your sheep and you are supposed to make sure that they grow up properly in Jesus Christ.

You are responsible for teaching them about the correct doctrine according to the bible so that they know how to walk in God’s commandments. If you are God’s servant, God will look after your needs so that you don’t lack in anything. It does not mean that you will be rich with big salary but God will make sure that you are provided with everything you need such as food and house.
