Bible Study Outline on Living Water

The first time Jesus mention living water was when he met a Samaritan woman who came to draw some water from the well. Jesus asked the Samaritan woman for a drink but the Samaritan woman question how could he asked for a drink when he is a Jew. In those days, the Jews never associate with the Samaritans. The Samaritans are from Samaria and they are mostly pagans.

Jesus replied to the Samaritan woman if she knew what is the gift of God and who she was speaking to, she would ask for the living water. Jesus stated that she will never be thirsty again if she drink the living water. The Samaritan woman then ask Jesus to give her the living water but Jesus asked her to call her husband. The Samaritan woman lied she had no husband but Jesus revealed her secret by saying she had 5 husbands and the one she is with now is not her husband.

Water is very important to the trees, human beings and animals. Without water, we all living things will die. Just as water is a necessity of life. having Jesus in your life is also a necessity for everyone. Without Jesus in your life, your soul will die. We always try to quench the thirst of our soul with different things such as materialism but we soon get thirsty. The only thing that can quench the thirst of your soul is believing in Jesus Christ and follow him. Believing in Jesus is the only way for you to live eternally with God. You can quench your spiritual thirst by taking up your cross to follow Jesus every day. Christians are to share the living water, which is the gospel of Jesus Christ, with others so that they will also found life.

Jesus always refers to the Holy Spirit as the living water. The Holy Spirit abides in us and guide us to do God’s will. The indwelling of the Holy Spirit seals us for salvation. Those who are led by the Holy Spirit will live a life that brings life into the world. Jesus is the vine and we are the branches. We must abide in Christ in order to be fruitful. We are to spend time with Him every day. God is the source of all problems. God is always ready to help us if only we are willing to humble ourselves and bring our problems to him in prayer.

The world can never give you that living water that will make you forever satisfied. When you feel empty in your soul, you should look to Jesus. He can quench the thirst of your soul and give you life if you allow him to enter into your life.

Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw. (John 4:13-15 KJV)

In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (John 7:37-38 KJV)

And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. (Revelation 21:6 KJV)

When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the Lord will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them. Bible Study Outline on Contending for the Faith

Jude 1:3 states that every genuine follower should contend earnestly for the faith. The church is constantly being threatened for its faith in Jesus. Jude explained the reason why we should fight to preserve the faith. Jude points out that our faith represents our salvation now and in the future. Our faith is complete as it is given to us once and for all. Our faith will always be challenged by false teachers.

In order to contend for the faith, we must take care to abide by God’s commandments so that we can demonstrate the testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ in our lives. To love Jesus means to serve God and do his commandments in the bible. The bible is not thought up by the church but it is the word of God the Holy Spirit inspires the apostles to write. Followers of Christ are to abide in God’s love. When you obey God’s commands, you are remaining in his love.

We must make sure we attain maturity in all areas so that we can have a balanced spiritual growth. For example, you must not just spend all your time serving at the church but also have time to read the bible and pray. True Christians will have the spirit of God. Counterfeit leaders including false prophets do not have the Holy Spirit. Many Christians are saved but they are not spiritual maturity. Good Christians demonstrate higher spiritual awareness.

Christianity is actually a personal relationship with Jesus. Unless you have a personal relationship with Christ, you will not be able to get into the kingdom of heaven. As a Christian, you must not be ashamed of acknowledging Jesus Christ before your friends. Theh 21st century see more and more people rejecting Christian values. For example, many places are making homosexuality and same sex marriage legal. Many Christians only go to the church but they do not have a real personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Some who claim to be Christians and go to church cannot even tell the basic beliefs of Christianity.

Contending for the faith means showing no partility. Paul rebuked Peter when he refused to eat with the Gentiles because of the presence of the influential Jews. Paul was bold in pointing out Peter’s wrong. Paul was bold to stand against Peter, a friend, who has committed an error in order to protect the faith.  Contending for the faith does not mean you have to be brutal and violent. It is wrong to discipline the disciples with insults and violence. Instead, we are to be gentle and compassionate when we reprimend a d younger fellow disciple.

Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. (Jude 1:3-4 KJV)

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear (1 Peter 3:15 KJV)

Bible Study Ouline on Being Born Again


Being born again in the context of Christianity involves spiritual rebirth. Everyone of us is born in the flesh when we came out of our mother’s wombs. On the other hand, spiritual rebirth means being born again by God’s spirit. Faith itself is insufficient to get saved and obtain eternal life. True spiritual birth requires true repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. Born again Christians already die to their own selves by quitting their bad habits and live a new life in Jesus Christ. If you are a born again Christian, you will demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit.

God is a spirit and his children must worship him in truth and spirit. To worship God means to pay respect to God. In order to be born again in Christ, you must meditate on God’s words and live by his commandments. Jesus said that only those who have been born again in Christ will be able to see and enter the kingdom of God.In 1 John 2:29, everyone that do righteousness is born of God. In 1 John 3:9, a person that is born of God will not continue to live in a sinful lifestyle because the seed of God is in him. If you find youself keep on getting trapped in repeating your sin even though you want to change, you should tell it to God and ask him to give you the strength to overcome it.

A person that is born of God will demonstrate love for others (1 John 5:1). Loving others is the most important commandment in the bible as all God’s commandment hang on this commandment. To love others means to be kind, considerate and helpful to those who need your help. Serving at the church by helping in volunteering in different areas of the ministry is one way of loving others. If you love others, you will be humble, tolerant, gentle towards others. You will avoid gossiping, backbiting,grumbling, murmuring, arguing, and yelling at others.

A person who is born of God will never dis-acknowledge God even when he is being persecuted and rejected by others. Jesus said that those who love their family members more than him is not worthy of being his disciple. Anyone that is born of God will be able to overcome worldliness with their faith. Christians are not to compromise with the world in any way but let their life completely being led by the Holy Spirit.
There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. Bible Study Outline on Taking Thoughts Captive


The devil can attack your mind by corrupting your thoughts with his lies. Philippians 4:8 states that we are to think whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely and admirable. If you allow the corrupt thoughts in your mind, you are allowing Satan to control your mind. If Satan is able to control your mind, he will also try to control your physical behaviors and attack your life.

Your mind can be influenced by your circumstances, the people you meet and the shows you watch. Therefore, it is very important not allow anything that is bad influence to enter into your mind. This mean you should not expose yourself to shows, music, books, and people that can give you bad influences and lead you away from God. If you meditate on God’s truth, the Holy Spirit will be able to take your thoughts captive. We have a free will to do whatever we want, to be slave to sin, or to obey God’s commandments. We are to pray and seek God at all times.

You must immediately take actions to stop this if you encounter an attack in the mind from Satan. If you don’t, the devil could be more invasive and attack you further. We can hear two voices, God’s voice or the devil’s voice. God can talk to you in your ear and let you see visions and dream dreams. Satan can do this too so you must be careful of everything that you enters into your mind. Sometimes, you can hear the wrong voices and think it is from God. You must pray for God to give you the ability to discern the right voice and wrong voice.

The devil likes to use your weak points to attack you so you must not give in to temptation otherwise he will have an opportunity. To fight the spiritual warfare, you must spend time to be near to God. Often, when you don’t spend time with God regularly, it opens a doorway for the devil to attack. Spending time with God means doing the things God wants you to do such as reading the bible, worshiping and etc.

Christians must always guard their thoughts and hearts at all time. Whatever you say begins with a thought. For example, if you think negatively of someone, you may be rush in opening your mouth to say bad things behind his back. Gossip can lead to quarrel and argument. We are to root out everything bad in our mind and bring every thought captive in obedience to him. If you have difficulties in bring your though captive into obedience to Christ, you should seek God’s help in prayer.

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; (2 Corinthians 10:5 KJV)

But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. (Romans 7:23 KJV)

Bible Study Outline on Giving Praises to God in a Storm


Troubles give you opportunity to experience God and build our faith and strength in Christ. When we face troubles, we will think of turning to God especially when there is no other solution. When you seek God in prayer, you are humbling yourself before him. Some people get mad at God and grumble. They may ask what the purpose that God put troubles in their lives is. God can use troubles to equip and prepare us for doing his ministry in the future. It was the Spirit who led Jesus Christ into the wilderness. Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights in the wilderness. Jesus Christ was able to win against the devil’s temptation because he trusted in God.

Satan is always coming up with mischieves. He seizes every opportunity he can to attack and destroy people’s lives. Satan is happy when he see God’s children is being led astray. Satan sought after God’s permission to attack Job by taking away all his children and servants and livestock. Job did not curse God for all the calamities he faced but he praises God in the distress he faced. Satan can also send problems into your life. Satan will hope that you blame God and grumble against him so that he could be glorified in this. He will aim at your weak area and put a deceptive thought in your mind so that you will be discouraged to continue in serving him.

Seeking God in prayer is one way of giving praises to God. When you seek God in prayer, you are acknowledging your need to God. Jesus Christ said everyone who is laden with burden should come to him. During difficult times, you must be strong in Christ and not give up easily. You must continue to give praises to him, believing that he will answer your prayer and help you. If you give in easily, you are letting the devil wins. If you don’t give up and continue to offer praises to God, you will surely be able to have a breakthrough which you can tell others in a testimony afterwards.

We must have faith in God during the storm of troubles. You must believe that God will do what you request in your prayer. Nothing is impossible for anyone who believes. When you praise God in times of difficulties, you are offering a sacrifice of praise. When you continue to praise God in hard times, you will find the Holy Spirit fill your heart with peace and joy.

Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord. (Psalm 150:1-6 KJV)

Bible Study Outline on Eating Healthy



There are certain types of food the bible forbid us to eat including food made of blood, strangled animal and food offered to the idols. Besides, we are also to take care of our bodies by eating a healthy diet.

If you know that there is a certain food you can’t eat because of a condition, you should not eat it as it will damage your health. We should avoid eating unhealthy food such as food high in cholesterol, MSG and sugar. Your body is made to what it is right now based on the food you feed it. It may not seem at first that the junk food you eat is harming your heath, because it happens progressively. Everyone needs to eat to live but we should not indulge in eating.

Living on a healthy diet is one testimony of a good Christian. If you claim to be a Christian but often eat junks, you are not showing respect to your body as the temple of God. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Your body does not only belong to you. Our body also belong to God because God created us. Jesus died for us on the cross to redeem us. God desires to live us through the Holy Spirit. God wants us to use our bodies to give glory to him. God said that he will destroy anyone that defile the temple of God and our body is the temple of God.

Daniel would not defile his body with the meat of the king or the wine. Daniel recognized that the meat and wine served on the king’s table are forbidden by God. He challenged the guard to give him and his friends vegetables and water for 10 days. After 10 days, they looked much healthier compared to the others who were served with the royal food. In the same way, God wants us to maintain a healthy diet by eating food that are nutritious.

When God give us our bodies, he also gave us instructions on how we are to maintain it. We can find healthy diet tips recommended by nutritionists on the books and internet. We are to present our body as a living sacrifice to God, holy and acceptable God. If we are to present our bodies as a living sacrifice to God, we cannot also indulge in bad habits that reduce our physical strength. Your emotion can have effect on your health. You should not starve yourself or binge on food because of an emotional problem. The bible says a merry heat is like a medicine but a broken spirit will dry up the bone. We are to stay cheerful, rely on God in prayer, and give thanks to him in all circumstances.

 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well. (Acts 15:29 KJV)

Bible Study Outline on Carnal Mind


Carnal mind refers to the inclination of thoughts to the lust of the body. When you live by the flesh, you will do what you naturally want to do according to the lust of the flesh. Examples of a canal mind are greed, wickedness, malice, and hatred. If you have the fruit of the spirit, you will do what Jesus would do. We are to follow the examples of Jesus Christ while he was on earth. If you are led by the spirit, you are the child of God. As a born again Christian, you are supposed to get rid of all kinds of sinful behaviors, attitude and thoughts.   Sin refers to anything that is against God’s commandments.

A Christian cannot live by the flesh and spirit at the same time. God commanded us to fight against the lust of the flesh. We are to fight over every kind of fleshly deed including emotions, thoughts, and decisions. Christians who are compromising with the world will live by the spirit and flesh. These types of Christians are inconsistent. The strength of the spirit and flesh in them are about the same. They will have some victories as well as some defeat in their lives. Backslidden Christian has much stronger fleshly desire compared to compromising Christian. No one will be able to know that a backslidden Christian is saved. Victorious Christians who live by the spirit and will never compromise to the flesh. Everyone will be able to know that he is a Christian led by the spirit.

Christians must not let the flesh to overpower them. It is possible for a Christian to make backward progression when he is not carefully following God. To avoid this, you should do spiritual activities by spending time with God. Examples of activities you can do to be closer with God are prayer, bible, encouraging others and etc. God promises to give the crown of life to anyone who finishes the race of life. We are to die daily in the flesh. Jesus promises to give a new body to the followers who have victoriously finished the race of life.

Satan is the eternal enemy of our soul. Satan is real and active and always looking for vulnerable people to attack. Satan wants us to live in flesh much more than we immerse in the Lord. He does not care what you do but he wants to make sure you are not with God. The devil likes to grab our weakest point to attack us. We must never give any way to the devil so that he cannot carry out his plan on us and destroy our relationship with God.

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. (1 Corinthians 2:14 KJV)

Bible Study Outline on Law Versus Grace


The Old Testament contains a lot of rules and festivals that God require the Israelite to observe. The Old Testament law is very strict. Anyone that does not obey the law will be punished. In those days, the blood of animal sacrifices is used to atone for the sins of the people of Israelite. This is to show that the blood of animal sacrifices will not be used for sin atonement forever.

Jesus Christ had to come to the earth to die on the cross and make atonement for our sins. Galatians 3:13 records that anyone that is hanged on a tree is cursed. The death and resurrection of Jesus signifies the establishment of the New Testament. By God’s grace, anyone who believe in Jesus Christ can get saved and inherit eternal life. We get saved not as a result of our works, so that we can boast about it. But, salvation is a gift of God. When the New Testament comes into effect, the Law of Moses was abolished so that there is no more need of following them. We are to walk in love and be kind to one another to show that we are good disciples of Jesus Christ.

God says the wages of sin is death. A sinner must repent in order to escape God’s judgment otherwise he will be condemned in hell. There is nothing you can do to please God and get saved except to believe in Jesus and follow him. It can be difficult for a sinner to fulfill the law as he is prone to sin. The seed of sin is in everyone and everyone has a tendency to make mistake. As a result, God had to send his only son, Jesus Christ, to come into the world to die for our sins.

Jesus Christ is God in bodily form while he was on earth. Jesus was vulnerable to all the sufferings just like human. After Jesus Christ was resurrected, he sat at the right hand side of God. Jesus Christ is a mediator between God and men. He intercedes for our sins.

You should not be discouraged if you continue to fall into temptation to sin. Without a conviction, your conscience will become hardened and it will be difficult for you to turn back to God. Waging war with your flesh means that you at least know you are on the good side, fighting against evil. You can pray and ask God to help overcome your sin.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV)

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. (2 Corinthians 12:9 KJV)

For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. (Romans 6:14 KJV)

Will God Destroy the Earth Again by Flood?


In Noah days, humankind are so evil that it cause God to regret of creating them. As a result, he decided to destroy them with flood. Only Noah found favor in God’s eyes. Noah is obedient and always do what God says so God decided to spare his life. God commanded Noah to build an ark so that he could save himself, his family members and the animals. Noah is to bring two of every kind of creatures into the ark with him during the floor so that they will be kept alive. Noah is to take every kind of food for himself and the animals. When the flood ended, the ark came to rest on the Ararat mountain.

The first thing that Noah did is to offer a sacrifice of some of the clean animals and birds to God. When God smell the pleasing aroma of the sacrifice, he decided not to destroy all living creatures with flood water again as he has done even though mankind are subjected to sin. Romans 3:23 states that all men have sinned and fall short of God’s glory. The earth needs a savior to save and deliver them from their sins. God put a rainbow in the sky as a sign of the covenant he made with Noah. The rainbow always appear after rain.

However, this does not mean that there will be no more flood again. The covenant that God made with Noah is that he will not destroy the creations in the entire earth with flood waters again. During the last days, those who are left behind from the rapture will have to experience the calamities. Different natural disasters will occur when Jesus comes back for the second time including storm, earthquake, flood, and etc.

God showed his intolerance towards sin via Noah’s flood. He was merciful to Noah an save him and his family because he was righteous. He made the first covenant in the bible with Noah. The flood did not get rid of the sinful nature of humankind. We are all used to be dead in our sins. We used to be slaves to our sins and belong to the devil. Despite that, God loves us and decided to offer his salvation by sending his son, Jesus Christ to come to the earth to die for our sins.

In 2 Peter 3:5-7, Peter prophesied that God will destroy the earth with fire one day just as how God destroyed all living beings by flood in Noah days. This will be the final judgment just as how it was with the deluge that took place globally during Noah days. Now is the time to repent. We should not be like those who die during the days of Noah. They made fun of Noah’s warning and did not prepare for the day the flood came. Noah trusted in God and built the ark.

For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. (2 Peter 3:5-7 KJV)

Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. (James 4:17 KJV)

Does God Forgive Gays?


The bible clearly tells us to stay away from gay and homosexuality. Leviticus 18:22 and Leviticus 20:13 states that it is a sin for a male to lie with a male as with a woman. Deuteronomy 22:5 states that a woman should not wear man’s clothes and a man should not wear a woman clothes. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 states that the unrighteous will not inherit eternal life and enter into the kingdom of God including homosexuals, fornicators, and adulterers.

Some of the homosexuality verses are from the Old Testament but that is not to say that we don’t have to obey it. Jesus’ death and resurrection has validated the new covenant. According to the new covenant, there is no need to abide by the Moses laws including rituals, festivities and other laws. However, Christians still have to abide by the moral laws in the Old Testaments. for example, the Ten Commandments.

It is also wrong to tolerate against homosexuality and approve it. It is not wrong to talk to a homosexuals and be friendly and kind towards them. However, it is wrong to mix with homosexuals company, for example, going out with them. Bad company can corrupt you. What you do can affect your thoughts. Mixing with bad company can affect your faith in Jesus Christ. Ultimately, it will lead you away from God. We must be careful not to give the devil a footstep. Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by God because the wickedness of its inhabitants. One of the sins of the people of Sodom and Gomorrah is homosexuality (Jude 1:7).

God will forgive anyone who sincerely repent and confess their sins to him. The parable of the father and his two sons in Luke 15:11-32 shows that the Father God is merciful and forgiving to those who repent and return to him. In the parable, a father has two sons. One day, the father divided his property between the two sons. The younger son accumulate all he had and set out to a distant land. While at the distant country, he squandered away his wealth and spent all he had. There was a severe famine and he began to be in need. Eventually, he hired out himself as a worker who feed the pigs at a farm. He longed to eat the pods that the pigs were eating.

Then, he realized that many of his father’s servants are experiencing starvation and decided to return to him. When he was a long way off, the father ran to him and embraced him and kissed him. The father has the best robe and sandals put on him. The father had a fattened calf slaughtered to celebrate his return. When the older son saw this, he was angry but the father told him that they are to celebrate and be glad because his brother is dead but now alive again. He was once lost but now is found (Luke 15:11-32 KJV).

Jesus died for our sins on the cross so that those who have faith in him can be saved and receive eternal life. However, the gift of salvation is only for those who have repented of their old ways and make a decision to follow God. If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your savior but you continue in your sinful lifestyle, you are still not saved yet.

You can pray and ask God to help you if you find that you cannot overcome the sin of gay and homosexuality. You should pray persistently and patiently. You can also have your pastor or other Christians pray for you. God will hear your prayer as it is written everyone who call on him will be saved.
